Staff and student scholarship handbooks

Authors

Anne Clifford & Eleanor Taylor, West Nottinghamshire College.

Summary

These handbooks are guidance documents aimed at promoting, developing and applying scholarship within college contexts. They include a range of activities to support the practical development of scholarship within the curriculum and signpost the importance and relevance of employer engagement and ethical research within the scholarship agenda.

Both could be adapted by individual colleges to acknowledge different provider contexts and/or include events and activities specific to a particular college or calendar year. The examples given include local, regional and partner university events. These are primarily individual practitioner and student resources (respectively), although whole organisations might also benefit from examining a process for embedding scholarship within their colleges (Steps to Scholarship) and exploring the variety of activities inherent in Boyer’s scholarship model.
